日本社会では職業がもっとも重要なこととして捉えられています。それはその人のアイデンティティーを形成し社会的に可視化されることでもあります。しかし可視化されない労働に従事している場合はどうでしょうか？「社会人」という言葉が示すように、何か職業をもつことは社会の中で役割を担うこととして見られています。しかし多くの仕事が、それが社会や経済の機能にとって不可欠であり、その仕事に対する様々な搾取や依存状態があるにもかかわらず認識されていない状況にあります。この不可視化されている労働が存在するのはなぜでしょう？なぜ可視化されている労働と、そうでない労働があるのでしょう？私たちの日常はどのようにこの不可視化された労働と結びつき、あるいはそれによって支えられているのでしょうか？不可視化された労働を可視化できるのか？できるとすれば、それはどのような条件で？技能実習生、人身売買、障がいをもつひと、家事労働、セックスワーク、そしてケアワークの事例を参考しつつ、だれもが関わっている、隠されている労働によって成り立つ複雑なシステム、そしてその労働に対する人権問題を問いかけます。

Radio Kosaten: Invisible Labour

In Japanese society work is generally held as central importance, often formulating one’s very identity and social visibility. But what of those who are denied the visibility of their labour? To have an occupation is often viewed as taking your role in society, as the very particular phrase 社会人 implies. But for many people their work is given very little recognition in society, whilst their labour is in fact vital to the functioning of our social and economic systems, which frequently exploit and depend upon this invisible labour. Why does invisible labour exist? Why is there this distinction between visible and invisible labour? How are our everyday lives connected to and supported by this labour? Is it possible to make the invisible visible and under what conditions? Touching on issues of Technical Trainees, Human Trafficking, People with Disabilities, Domestic Labour, Sex Work and other Care Work the discussion will scrutinize the complicity of us all in this system of hidden labour and the denial of labour protections will be placed under scrutiny.
