Hello! I’m Maki, a writer and artist who is Japanese but was raised in Australia. I am currently seeking a participant in Tokyo to help me create a video art work exploring family, intergenerational relationships, and attitudes towards older women in today’s society.

The participant must:
- Speak English at an intermediate level or above
- Identify as a grandmother (this could mean having grandchildren, or being of an age where you are generally considered a ‘grandmother’)

Participating in this project will involve a 1 hour session, where I will:
- Take recordings of you reading a couple of letters written in English (audio recording only)
- Interview you about my areas of interest, such as the changing nature of family structure in contemporary society and experiences of womanhood in Japan (the interview can be in Japanese)

Since I live in Nerima ward, the participant will ideally be based in Nerima or a close by area (but I can also travel if necessary). I can come to your house to conduct the session, or if you prefer it can be held at my house.

I would like to conduct the session sometime in February, and find a time based on both of our schedules. I would like to offer ¥1500 as a thank you for participating!

私はマキと申します。日本人ですが、オーストラリアで育ったライター兼アーティストです。
現在、東京でビデオアート作品の制作にご協力いただける方を探しています。作品のテーマは、家族、世代間の関係、そして現代社会における年配の女性へのまなざしについてです。

参加条件：
- 英語を日常会話レベル以上で話せる方
-「おばあちゃん」としての立場にある方（実際にお孫さんがいる方、または一般的に「おばあちゃん」とみなされる年齢の方）

プロジェクトの内容：
1時間ほどのセッションを予定しています。具体的には：
- 英語で書かれた手紙を数通読んでいただき、その音声を録音
- 家族のあり方の変化や、日本における女性としての経験についてのインタビュー（インタビューは日本語でOKです）

場所・日時・謝礼について：
私は練馬区在住のため、練馬区または近隣地域の方だと助かりますが、必要に応じて私が伺うことも可能です。
ご自宅での収録もできますし、ご希望があれば私の自宅で行うことも可能です。
セッションは2月中を予定しており、お互いのスケジュールに合わせて日程を決められればと思います。
謝礼として1,500円をお渡しします。
