If you're visiting Japan or a resident in Japan who would like to experience calligraphy, a part of Japanese culture, please contact us. I work as a part-time Japanese language instructor, and in my free time I teach calligraphy at Japanese language schools to international students, nursing home residents, and local children. I currently hold a 5th dan at the Japan Calligraphy Academy. Even beginners will receive gentle, easy-to-understand instruction, with guidance by hand, so you'll be able to write beautiful characters in just 2 hours. We will provide all calligraphy tools and calligraphy paper, so you don't need to bring anything. The cost is 2,000 yen for a 2-hour (90-minute) experience, with an additional 800 yen if you would like your work backed and presented in a simple hanging scroll. Classes are held on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and can be scheduled according to your preferred date. The class will be held in a room in my house, a 7-minute walk from the east exit of Warabi Station on the Keihin-Tohoku Line. I can provide detailed location information if you would like.
