For those who want to start jazz, apply theory to performance, or expand their expression in jam sessions: A practical jazz method that helps you study chords, rhythm, improvisation, and comping systematically, and connect them to skills you can use in sessions and real performance settings ▶︎Develop a jazz sound through a clear understanding of chords and rhythm ▶︎Build a strong jazz repertoire that becomes the foundation of your playing ▶︎Approach improvisation and solos with greater confidence ▶︎Learn to feel the flow of a tune and play together with other musicians in jam sessions ▶︎Move beyond the same patterns and expand your range of expression and musical ideas Jazz piano lessons with an instructor who gained performance experience as a player in New York and developed extensive teaching experience at universities, music schools, and private lessons. The instructor holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Jazz piano does not improve easily through instinct alone. By studying chord voicings, rhythm, melodic phrasing, ear training, improvisation, comping, and interaction with intention, you can gradually shape these elements into your own performance. These lessons are tailored to each student’s current level, from those who are new to jazz, to students already participating in jam sessions, to those who want to deepen their improvisation and accompaniment skills. For beginning students, the first goal is to build three jazz tunes that can be performed with confidence. Lessons cover how to play the theme, basic chord voicings, simple accompaniment, and short improvisation, developing practical skills that can lead toward future jam session participation. For those who wish, support is also available for preparing for a first jam session. For students who feel stuck after self-study or introductory jazz lessons, we work from common issues such as “I keep playing the same phrases,” “I cannot follow the chord progression,” or “I do not know what to practice.” Chords, rhythm, scales, and ear training are organized so that students can understand what they are playing and apply it in performance. For classical pianists, lessons bridge existing reading skills and technique into chord charts, jazz rhythm, improvisation, and comping. This is suitable for those who can read music but feel stuck when facing chords or improvisation. For intermediate students and those with jam session experience, lessons go beyond simply participating in sessions. We refine solo development, comping, sense of form, intros and endings, and interaction with other musicians. The goal is to move beyond playing the same way each time, broaden expression, and develop performance at a higher level. For advanced students and those who want to study more deeply, lessons include improvisation, comping, transcription, phrase analysis, rhythmic analysis, and interaction. Analysis of jazz pianists such as Wynton Kelly, including accompaniment and improvisation, is also available. Lessons are adjusted to each student’s goals and pace, including adult learners, classical pianists, jazz beginners, students preparing for jam sessions, and those who want to deepen their playing further. *English lessons and bilingual lessons are available. The instructor has 15 years of teaching experience in the United States. *Lessons are also available for classical piano teachers who want to study jazz, pop, and chord-based teaching methods from the perspective of classical players. *For those interested in studying in the United States, advice is available on preparation, studying, and daily life abroad.
